Hi All,<\/p>\n

I have managed to get the first of my Tube Dresses finished.\u00a0 No time to make the other two yet though.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m really pleased with the result:<\/p>\n

Stretch Tube Dress<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n

It\u2019s made from a heavyweight Jersey fabric (Cotton\/ Viscose mix) so is really quite cosy to wear.\u00a0 The other 2 pieces of jersey are a lighter weight, so there\u2019s no rush in making them as they will do for when the weather gets a bit warmer.<\/p>\n

I love the bold print.\u00a0 Wasn\u2019t too sure when I bought it but now it\u2019s made up it looks fab!<\/p>\n

The dress went together really well.\u00a0 I had the option of 2 methods of stitching it together:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Using a domestic sewing machine with a stretch needle (to prevent skipped stiches) and a stretch stitch which will stretch with the fabric.<\/li>\n
  2. Using my industrial 5-thread overlock machine.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I chose the overlock as it sews the seams faster while giving a very neat finish.<\/p>\n

    As you can see, the overlock looks a bit scary but it\u2019s actually a bit of a pussy-cat\u00a0 really!\u00a0 Nice and smooth to use as long as you keep your fingers away from the knife!!<\/p>\n

    I actually completed my dress on the domestic machine, using an attractive stretch stitch around the hem, sleeves and neckline.\u00a0 I also stabilised the neck edge with a fantastic product called \u2018Lite Steam-a-Seam\u2019.\u00a0 If you\u2019ve never used it, give it a try on stretchy fabrics \u2013 it tames curly edges.<\/p>\n
